The American Youth Symphony has pledged that 50 percent or more of new music performed by the orchestra will be the work of female composers.

Conductor and San Francisco Philharmonic Founder Jessica Bejarano and the American Youth Symphony opened for a Family Film Fridays event with A Place Called Home, a South Central L.A. community organization. Bejarano gave a conducting lesson and APCH's own Youth Strings Ensemble also performed.

The Bear Valley Music Festival named Paul Iannaccone as Executive Director.

Trevor Thompson joined the California Symphony team and is leading the Sound Minds program, which provides music education to students in an underserved Bay Area community at no cost to families.

Jim Hogan, Executive Director of the California Youth Symphony, has announced his retirement later this summer after 40 years in the role.

The LA Phil has appointed Camille Delaney-McNeil as the Director of its new Judith and Thomas L. Beckmen YOLA Center at Inglewood. The Frank Gehry-designed Judith and Thomas L. Beckmen YOLA Center at Inglewood will open in August 2021 and welcome its first class of local Inglewood students this fall.

Pacific Symphony launched PacificSymphony+ in February. Newly recorded footage from the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall is premiered every Thursday.

Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale has named bass-baritone Davóne Tines as the organization's first-ever Creative Partner and named Tarik O'Regan as its Composer in Residence.

The Santa Barbara Symphony announced its continued partnership with the Santa Barbara Unified School District to present BRAVO!, their popular after-school music education program. The program supplements the district's in-school music programs with two additional free music lessons each week.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) announced the publication of a white paper on the impact of music education on child development. Titled “Music for Every Child,” the white paper was written by polymath Indre Viskontas, a neuroscientist who’s also a soprano with a master’s degree in vocal performance from SFCM.
