The Berkeley Symphony renewed its contract with Music Director Joseph Young through the 2024-25 season. 

 

Grete Pedersen was welcomed as Carmel Bach Festival’s new Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. 

 

Fremont Symphony announced the appointment of Barrett Hoover as the new Executive Director.

 

La Jolla Symphony and Chorus announced the appointment of Dr. Arian Khaefi as the Sally & Einar Gall Chorus Director. 

 

Four new musicians joined the LA Phil: Kaelan Decman, Associate Principal Bass;Marc LachatPrincipal Oboe; James Mason SoriaTuba; and David Riccobono, Assistant Principal Timpani/Section Percussion.

 

The Modesto Symphony Orchestra announced the appointment of Ryan Murray as Principal Pops Conductor. 

 

Pacific Symphony announced that it will be renewing the contract of  longtime Music Director, Carl St. Clair, through the 2023-24 season. His 33-year tenure is the longest in U.S. orchestral history. 

The City of Irvine honored Pacific Symphony with an official proclamation that June 28 would be Pacific Symphony Day, acknowledging its 35 years of service to the city of Irvine. 

 

Six new musicians joined the Reno Chamber OrchestraSara Aldana, Assistant Conductor; Noah BrenemanPrincipal Oboe; Elen FlanaganSection Violin; David HaskinsSection Violin; Dylan NeffPrincipal Bassoon; and Corrine Stillwell, Principal Second Violin. 

     

The Reno Philharmonic named Ignacio Barrón Viela as President & CEO.

      

Judith Valles, a former mayor of San Bernardino, was elected president of San Bernardino Symphony’s board of directors. 

 

San Diego Symphony appointed AJ Benson as Director of Artistic Planning. 

 

Three new board members, including a new Board President, were appointed by the San Diego Youth Symphony: John Lipsey, Board President; David Sarkaria, Development Vice Chair; and Madoka Nadahara, Board Member. 

 

Four new musicians joined the San Francisco Symphony: Katarzyna Bryla-Weiss, Viola; Rainer Eudeikis, Principal Cello; Matthew Griffith, Associate Principal and E-flat Clarinet; and Leonid Plashinov-Johnson, Viola. 

Matthew Spivey was named CEO of the San Francisco Symphony after one year as Interim CEO. 

 

Alan Silow announced his retirement from the Santa Rosa Symphony at the end of the 2022-23 season. A search committee will be formed and put in place to identify and hire the next President & CEO by the beginning of the 2023-2024 season. 

Santa Rosa Symphony presented its first commercial recording in September, titled Cello Concerto & Other Works.
