One of the greatest conductors and composers of all time, Mahler’s music represents the zenith of the symphonic tradition. It is not always immediately accessible and with symphonies that stretch over an hour it can be tough for music lovers to find a place to jump in. This lecture will focus on the musical language of Mahler and on tools to help you enjoy it. We will look at some of the greatest musical moments ever written and explore how closely related Mahler’s music is to composers like Schubert who we have studied earlier in this series. Mahler’s music holds a special place in the repertoire, and we can’t wait to share some of this amazing music with you.
