Livermore-Amador Symphony VIBRANT VARIATIONS Saturday, February 10 at 7:30PM; Inside the Music 7-7:15 PM The concert features performances by winners of our annual Competition for Young Musicians, pianist Connor Roham and cellist Cara Wang. Both are San Francisco Conservatory of Music students. In addition, the orchestra celebrates Chinese New Year with the joyous “Saibei Dance” from Saibei Suite No. 2 by An-lun Huang. Benjamin Britten’s fantastic “The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra,” an audience favorite, is a set of thrilling variations full of energy and humor. The colorful sounds of Mexican composer José Moncayo’s “Huapango” infuse the evening with traditional Mexican folk dance. The youth jazz band Element 116 will perform in the lobby during intermission, and all are invited to a post-concert reception in the lobby hosted by the symphony Guild.
