Member Engagement & Development ManagerAbout | Board of Directors | Staff and Contact Alexandra Opsahl was named the Member Engagement & Development Manager of the Association of California Symphony Orchestras (ACSO) on February 20, 2024. Originally from Norway, Alexandra Opsahl studied cornetto and recorder at the Royal Academy of Music in London, graduating with 1st Class Honors in 2004. She continued her studies of historic brass at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland, and quickly established herself as a sought-after freelance musician, performing with prestigious period instrument ensembles and opera houses across Europe and North America. Her performances include collaborations with renowned ensembles such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Philharmonia Baroque, Boston Early Music Festival, I Fagiolini, Capella Barocca di Mexico, Carmel Bach Festival, Apollo's Fire (Cleveland Baroque Orchestra), and Portland Baroque Orchestra. Noteworthy performances include Monteverdi's Il Ritorno d’Ulisse at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Altenmusik in 2017, as well as filmed productions of Monteverdi's L’Incoronazione di Poppea with both Oslo Opera and Glyndebourne Opera. Alexandra's commitment to the classical music community extends beyond performance. In 2007, Alexandra relocated to Los Angeles, where she founded Tesserae Baroque, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to performing music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Serving as its executive director, Alexandra led Tesserae Baroque through a period of rapid and steady growth, fostering collaborations with local arts organizations such as the Gamble House, The Norton Simon Museum, The Da Camera Society, The Colburn School, Long Beach Camerata, and Long Beach Opera. She also served as executive director for Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra from 2017 to 2018. Now, as the Member Engagement and Development Manager for ACSO, Alex brings her collaborative spirit and passion for the arts to a role focused on supporting and championing the classical music community as a whole. Alex lives in Altadena with her husband, two sons, and a multitude of cats and harpsichords. |
