Innovation – a California Festival concert

The concert marks the last day of the California Festival, a statewide music initiative showcasing the most compelling and forward-looking voices in performances of works written in the past five years. Our concert features three new works, including the world premiere of Circle Overture by renowned film composer and long-time friend of the Orchestra Craig Safan, along with familiar works that were new and innovative in their time.

  • ·      Gabriella Yorke (b. 1999): Absent-Minded Waltz (2022)
  • ·      Brooke deRosa (b. 1986): Valzer di Carnevale (2020) from the film “The Picture of Dorian Gray”
  • ·      Johann Strauss II (1825-1899): Kaiser-Walzer (1889)
  • ·      Johannes Brahms (1833-1897): Symphony #1 in C minor, Op. 68 (1876)
